Role overview
External-entry trainee train driver apprenticeship pathway with Northern at Hull. Training salary is £28,020, rising to £48,417 in Year 1, £53,424 in Year 2 and £64,772 in Year 3. The programme includes around five months of classroom learning followed by at least 230 driving hours with a Driver Mentor and ongoing competency assessment. Applicants must live within a 45-minute car journey of the station, be at least 20, pass the TDLCR medical and enhanced train driver psychometric assessments, and be able to work early, late, night and weekend shifts without relying on public transport.
