Trainee Train Driver - Carlisle
External-entry trainee train driver apprenticeship pathway with Northern at Carlisle. Training salary £28,020, rising to £48,417 in Year 1, £53,424 in Year 2 and £64,772 in Year 3. Applicants must live within a 45-minute car journey, be at least 20 at application, meet train-driver medical and psychometric standards, and be able to work the full shift pattern. The in-house trainee driver course forms part of a two-year apprenticeship programme, beginning with around five months of classroom learning followed by mentored driving and at least 230 driving hours.
Trainee Train Driver - Hull
External-entry trainee train driver apprenticeship pathway with Northern at Hull. Training salary is £28,020, rising to £48,417 in Year 1, £53,424 in Year 2 and £64,772 in Year 3. The programme includes around five months of classroom learning followed by at least 230 driving hours with a Driver Mentor and ongoing competency assessment. Applicants must live within a 45-minute car journey of the station, be at least 20, pass the TDLCR medical and enhanced train driver psychometric assessments, and be able to work early, late, night and weekend shifts without relying on public transport.
